Nothing like going for a walk for exercise in the Garden Tomb. What better place in the world!

We are really blessed to be able to volunteer here in the Garden. Although there has been little sunshine yet, we are enjoying the experience immensely. God has shown me how important it is to seize the opportuinities He gives us to share His word. Can you believe I get to witness to groups of 5 - 50 people from throughout the world seven or eight times per day, five days a week? Last week I had the chance to guide the Governor of Mississippi, his wife, two friends and their security team through the Garden. So far I have guided groups from Canada, USA, Nigeria, Spain, China, Brazil, England, Estonia, and more. While God is giving us a chance to be a blessing to others, we are truly being blessed ourselves. Sunday morning we attended the East Jerusalem Baptist church to hear a Palestinian Christian Pastor give the message. There were only about 35 or 40 people present, but they included familes from North Carolina, Alaska, India, Germany, South Africa, Woodstock Ontario, England, and of course Israel. One of our new friends here at the Garden Tomb, Steve, told us the story of one recent Sunday morning at the church. The Pastor introduced someone named "Andrew" who was supposed to give the message. In addition Tony Campolo, the noted author and lecturer would give his testimony.

Steve and his wife wondered who this Andrew guy was when Tony Campolo was there but would only be giving his testimony. It turned out it was Brother Andrew, the bible smuggler, along with Tony at the same service for about 40 people. Sunday afternoon we were able to get out and explore for the first time, visiting the Jaffa gate and parts of Old Jerusalem. This Thursday on our first actual day off we hope to see more sights. Thank you praying for us - we miss you but feel this is where we need to be right now.

  2. So proud of you mom and dad.

It makes me smile that dad knows all the important people that come through and has to probably explain who they are to mom :)

It's funny to me the wide variety of people that come to the garden tomb. The governor of Mississippi? Wow.

Great post Dad. Looking forward to hearing what and where you go on your day off :)
